Planning For Evaluation

Question 1  In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

-          Needs to be clear of codes and conventions of digipak, advert and music video
-          Music Video – The song used and the lyrics
-          Conventions used within the video in relation to music video genre – e.g. props, colour scheme, costumes

Ways of presenting:
Voiceover – presentation/video
9 frame presentation – editing, genre etc.
                     The title of the film
                     Setting/location
                     Costumes and props
                     Camerawork and editing
                     Title font and style
                     Story and how the opening sets it up
                     Genre and how the opening suggests it
                     How characters are introduced
                     Special effects
Screenshot similarities (digipak, music video, advert)
Record yourself teaching people how you used conventions in own production
Prezi/PowerPoint
Images
Interviews
Focus groups

Question 2 -   How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
-          Discuss how one media product informed the other. E.g.
-          Common theme
-          Brand image/personality
-          Colour scheme
-          Typography (fonts)
-          Use of artist
-          Mise en scene
-          Symbolism?
-          Problems

Question 3 What have you learned from your audience feedback?
·         Surveys/questionnaires
·         Focus groups video  - how they influenced media products
·         Views on YouTube/Facebook – had an effect on media product
·         Post it lesson
·         Film audience watching video ad get feedback
·         Why is audience feedback important?

·         What we learnt following the feedback received in lesson? Sticky notes of feedback and analyse the overall feedback and what we planned to do to change -did we change it?
·         Feedback from class mates/ use of pictures from the sticky notes
·         Show difference between first draft and final product
·         Types of feedback – evaluating work by other, talking in groups, annotating each other’s work to improve, watching each other’s music video and giving verbal feedback

Comparisons to real media products – explain why you did it the way you did

·         Microsoft and apple- brief intro. Then you used them both- how did they vary? How did you cope with swapping formats?
·         YouTube- what is it, brief history, how did you use it for this? Provide example. We watched this and this is what we got from it.
·         Other websites- NME, Google for research, digipak template website, fonts, slide share, blogger. Existing bands website for genre to look at overall brand image
·         Blogger- intro, how you used it
·         Prezi- intro how you used it
·         Filming- camera type
·         Editing- Final Cut
·         Print- Photoshop
·         Difficulties- what were they and how did you overcome them
